I was impressed by your clear writing, local focus, and limited scope. At first I was a bit concerned that the letter to the editor raised issues that you didn't seem to have anticipated: security and grades. I realized, however, that your job was not to cover every possible aspect of the issue, but to raise the concern. Now, with two points of view available, readers can reach a more informed conclusion. If asked to edit this piece, I would have suggested two word changes: "pay" for "buy" in the sentence about the required food plan, and "shocked" or "upset" for outraged to avoid duplication with "outrageous." Overall, though, a good column.
